Performance Review: November 2020.

Markets continue their dream run!

November has been a blockbuster month where Nifty rose by 11.39% to close the month at an all-time high of 12968.95, just a little shy of 13000. Nifty 500 also followed the suit and rose 11.87% to close at an all-time high of 10719.05.

Nifty and Nifty 500 registered their second-best month after the March lows.

The rally has been across the board where the majority of Nifty indices have registered solid gains. The best performing sectors were Metals, Financials, Auto, and Realty.

Mid-cap and small-cap indices have also registered strong gains and closed at all-time highs.

Nifty IT and Nifty Pharma also posted strong gains but lagged the broader market. Nifty IT rose by 4.05 while Pharma rose by 5.3%.

FIIs have pumped in close to 58000 crores in the month of November.

My Hybrid Strategy Model Portfolio also rose by close to 6% during the month but has trailed the broader Nifty & Nifty 500.

Here’s the real-time snapshot of the actual 10 stock model portfolio established based on the DYR Hybrid Strategy. The Hybrid Strategy is the combination of Dual Momentum Rotational Strategy and Mean Reversion Long/Short strategies applied together.

Total portfolio equity stands at 1753107.67 which is up close to 27% over starting equity of Rs. 1380000 since 30/06/2020.

During the same period, the Nifty has risen by 25.88% while the Nifty 500 by 26.48. The portfolio has slightly outperformed the broader markets.

The Hybrid Model Portfolio has now two multi-baggers which have risen more than 100% since 30/06/2020. I continue to maintain the cash in the portfolio to hedge against any pullbacks or corrections going forward.

Hope the performance continues through the last month of 2020!

Have a great day!

  • Hardik,
Is this a virtual PF or an actual one?
I wonder how to do pick 10 stocks out of many that may fulfill the hybrid strategy criteria?
Do you have any data on the performance of these strategies in a bear market to pick profit giving stocks in an otherwise bad market.
I am also wondering if you think it is worth investing so much time/effort in beating the index by 1%-2%

    • Hi,
      1. It’s an actual account with real money.
      2. I wonder how to do pick 10 stocks out of many that may fulfill the hybrid strategy criteria?
The stocks are filtered on the basis of various factors like Low-volatility, Quality, Value, and then applied momentum ranking score to select the top 10.
      3. Do you have any data on the performance of these strategies in a bear market to pick profit giving stocks in an otherwise bad market.
The strategy is thoroughly backtested on historical data which is shared in the Hybrid Strategy e-book. I remain out of or reduce my position size if the market is in a bearish regime.
      4. I am also wondering if you think it is worth investing so much time/effort in beating the index by 1%-2%
The objective is to beat buy and hold with less risk, time & stress over the long term. Short-term under/overperformance will keep on happening. Historically though, the strategy has outperformed by a wide margin.
      I hope this clarifies…
